Hi all.
I have got the latest version of winamp 5.33. I also had this problem in previous versions above 5.
The problem is that when i try to open a file by using the open dialogue wave sounds don't appear in my list of files. To be able to open them i have to type a star * in the edit box so i can make all of them to appear. My cellection in files of type is all supported media but still wav files don't appear.
It is not really a bigg problem but i am wondering why they do that and it would be good to see if other people have simmilar problems.

Have you tried going into Winamp's preferences and looking under file types to make sure that WAV is checked? I usually make sure all file types are selected when I first install winamp. If that fails, get foobar, heehee!
I have that problem too. how to you get to winamp preferences? lol
To go to the preference you press control+p. It is a strange kind of dialogue. There is a tree view with different things like general, file types, library etc and after you choose one of them you press tab to find the settings for this category. When you finish changing things you press cclose. They don't have ok or apply or anything.
I will try the file types thing and see if it makes a difference.
I have had this problem in the past, and it seems to have something to do with contending media players.
If you also use windows media player or real player, the three media players insist on becoming the default player for some file types and continuously re-registering themselves as the default.
Winamp's response to this problem is the winamp agent which resides in memory and re-registers your files when winamp is opened.
And, I'll bet you didn't load the winamp agent when you installed winamp. I didn't, and I had that same problem. so had to go into the preferences and check winamp agent. Now winamp is happy.
Hope this rambling helps.
